Evening’s 29th Annual Best Northwest Escapes 2025 OFFICIAL RULES

1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING. SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
2. Eligibility. Subject to the additional restrictions below, Evening's 29th Annual Best Northwest Escapes (the “Sweepstakes") is open to legal U.S. residents of the State of Washington and Idaho who are 18 years or older. Employees and contractors of KING-TV (“Sponsor” and “Administrator”), TEGNA Inc., Grays Harbor Tourism (“Sponsor” and “Grand Prize Provider”), Silverwood Theme Park (“Sponsor” and “Weekly Prize Provider”), and each of their respective affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees or contractors, are not eligible to enter or to win.
3. How to Enter (Grand Prize). The Sweepstakes will begin at 12:01 AM PT on April 21, 2025, and end at 11:59 PM PT on May 18, 2025 (the “Sweepstakes period”). There will be 40 categories to nominate and vote in. Enter by visiting the king5.com/escapes website and entering all required information on the entry form. You may only nominate once in each sub-category online, with each nomination counting as one (1) entry for the sweepstakes for the Grand Prize. All nominations are subject to the Nominee Eligibility Terms below in order to be eligible for voting or for prize eligibility.
4. Winner Selection (Grand Prize). On or about May 23, 2025, one (1) grand prize winner will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries (nominations) received between April 21, 2025, and May 18, 2025.
5. Prizes and Odds (Grand Prize). One (1) grand prize winner will be chosen during the sweepstakes period. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.

• 2-night stay at Grey Gull Hotel in Ocean Shores, WA with accommodations for 4 people
• 2-night stay in Westport, WA with accommodations for 4 people

• $1,340 gift card to Salmon Charter Fishing for 4 – donated by Westport Charter Association
• $250 gift card to Rediviva restaurant in Aberdeen, WA
• $100 gift card to Brunch 101 restaurant in Hoquiam, WA
• $100 gift card to Aberdeen Brewery in Aberdeen, WA
• $100 gift card Westport Winery in Westport, WA
• $250 gift card for select restaurants in Westport, WA
• $300 gift card for Electric Beach Bike Rentals in Ocean Shores, WA
• Admission to the Music Project Museum in Aberdeen, WA and private guided 90 Unplugged 2-hour walking tour for 4 people

The average retail value (“ARV”) of the grand prize package is $5,000.

All prizes are subject to availability. The winner is solely responsible for all expenses not expressly included in the prize description, including but not limited to transportation, ground transfers, meals, gratuities, applicable taxes, and any incidental charges. The redemption of any alcoholic beverages or wine tastings included in the prize package requires the winner to be at least 21 years of age. A valid credit card and government-issued photo identification (driver’s license or passport) may be required at hotel check-in. Prizes may be subject to blackout periods and must be booked in advance and are subject to space availability. Additional terms and conditions may apply.

Addendum to Official Rules – Weekly Category Prize: Best Amusement Park Voting Incentive

As part of Evening’s 29th Annual Best Northwest Escapes 2025 Sweepstakes, Silverwood Theme Park (“Weekly Prize Provider”) will award a pair of tickets to Silverwood Theme Park (ARV $132) to one (1) randomly selected entrant each week during the four-week nomination and voting period (April 21, 2025 – May 18, 2025).

Four (4) total weekly prizes will be awarded—one per week—to individuals who vote in the Best Amusement Park category at king5.com/escapes.

Important: You do not need to vote for Silverwood Theme Park to be eligible for the prize. Simply casting a vote for any amusement park nominee in that category will automatically enter you into that week's random drawing.

Each winner will receive:

• Two (2) single-day tickets to Silverwood Theme Park for 2025 public operating season.
• Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $160 per winner

Weekly winners will be selected on or about:

• Week 1: April 28, 2025
• Week 2: May 5, 2025
• Week 3: May 12, 2025
• Week 4: May 19, 2025

Weekly winners will be contacted via email and/or phone and must respond within 24 hours to claim their prize, in accordance with Section 6 of the Official Rules.

6. Winner Notification and Acceptance. The grand prize winner will be selected on or about May 20, 2025. Winners must respond to prize notification within 24 hours of notification. Failure to respond within such time period or return of prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected. To claim prize, the winner must provide a clear copy of their valid photo ID, complete a W9, and sign a prize affidavit electronically within five (5) business days. If unable to send electronically, winner can make an appointment to personally visit Sponsor’s offices at 1501 1st Ave. South Seattle, WA 98134 within five (5) business days after notification. Office visits must be between the hours of 8:30 AM PT and 5:00 PM PT weekdays. No substitutions allowed by the winner. Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsor or Prize Provider reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners will be issued a 1099 tax form from sponsor and are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any federal taxes on prizes. Winners will be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility/liability and publicity release which must be returned as directed by Sponsor. Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner. Prizes won by minors will be awarded to parent or legal guardian who must sign any affidavit or release required by Sponsor. Except where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes winner’s consent to the publication of his or her name, biographical information, and likeness in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation the Internet, or further compensation. Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Sponsor.
7. Participation. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Administrator. Administrator reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Sweepstakes as solely determined by Administrator. Administrator reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Sweepstakes at any time, for any reason. Should the Sweepstakes be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsor reserves the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date. Sponsor will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, misdirected entries or votes, or for failure to receive entries or votes or other electronic communications due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware, or software, whether originating with sender or sponsor. The authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry will be considered the entrant. An “authorized account holder” shall mean the natural person assigned to such e-mail account by the Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with such e-mail account. A potential winner may be requested to provide proof in the event of a dispute. All online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the owner of the ISP account from which they were sent. For these purposes, an ISP account holder shall mean the natural person assigned to such ISP account by the Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning ISP addresses for the domain associated with such ISP account. Any questions regarding the number of entries or votes submitted or the owner of an ISP account shall be determined by Administrator in its sole discretion, and Administrator reserves the right to disqualify any entries or votes by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes.
8. Release. The Sponsor, Prize Provider(s) and Administrator make no warranties, express or implied, relative to the use or enjoyment of any prize or portions thereof, including without limitations, its quality, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. By entering the Sweepstakes, each Winner agrees to hold harmless and fully release Sponsor and Prize Provider(s) and each of their respective parent companies, trustees, subsidiaries, franchisees, licensees, employees, agents, independent contractors and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, death, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from the acceptance, possession, quality, use or misuse of any prize, or any portion of any prize or travel related to the receipt or use of any prize.
9. Construction. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
10. Sponsor. Evening’s 29th Annual Best Northwest Escapes 2025 is sponsored and administered by KING-TV. The decisions of Administrator regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of this Sweepstakes shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for typographical, printing, or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Sweepstakes.                                                            NOMINEE ELGIBILITY TERMS

A. NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS:

Nominees provided by viewers are vetted then selected based on the following criteria:

• Nominee must be operating (the business and/or location cannot be "opening soon" or closed.)

• Nominee must provide products or services directly to consumers, park goers or travel enthusiasts.

• Nominee must legitimately provide products, services, or experiences within an existing contest category.

• Nominee must have physical operations in Washington State or Idaho State.

• Nominee must have reputation for excellence, proven track record, or otherwise distinguish itself in its category.

• Nominee must meet category criteria.

• Businesses that are part of a national chain or franchise will not be considered as nominees unless ownership is based in Washington state.

KING-TV shall make the final determination in its sole discretion regarding the eligibility of a destination to compete in a specific category or the contest in general.

Winners are chosen by total number of nominations and not and endorsement by Administrator or Sponsor. Due to the many different business types and a limited number of categories, KING-TV retains the editorial right to include or exclude nominees in the spirit of the contest as determined by KING-TV at its sole discretion. Furthermore, KING-TV retains the right to remove any nominee whose material condition changes before voting begins. KING-TV also retains the right to remove any nominee that has been included in the contest incorrectly or has used marketing materials, language or conduct that is not in line with the spirit of the contest as determined by KING-TV.

B. NOMINEE RULES

The goal of the Best Northwest Escapes is to host a fair and accurate contest to determine the best local businesses and parks by popular vote. National chains and / or Franchises may be disqualified at the determination of the contest administrator. Nominees are encouraged to invite their customers to vote and promote their involvement in Best Northwest Escapes. Our technology closely monitors voting behavior to ensure the final results are as fair and accurate as possible. Attempting to manipulate votes in any way, including but not limited to the actions below, are not allowed:

• Using technology to manipulate voting results

• Creating multiple accounts or creating accounts on behalf of consumers

• Allowing or encouraging customers to vote from in-store computers

• Using third party online voting sites to solicit votes

• Requiring employees to vote as a condition of employment

• Soliciting or participating in "vote trading" with other nominees (i.e., "I'll vote for you if you vote for me")

KING-TV reserves the right to disqualify, block or remove any votes from any individual who votes by any electronic, mechanical, or automated means, or otherwise tampers with the voting process, or for any other reason, as determined by KING-TV in their sole discretion. KING-TV is not responsible for any damage to voters' device(s) that may occur from use of service. Administrators reserve the right, for any reason and in their sole discretion, to modify, suspend or discontinue the Program without prior notice.

Individual businesses may not declare themselves “Best of” until the results are officially announced starting the week of June 6, 2025. All winners will be published to www.king5.com/escapes at 8PM PT on May 19, 2025.

C. NOMINEE TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Nominations in each category will open within the voting window at the discretion of KING-TV’s local evening program (“Evening”) and will last for four weeks. Participants can enter once in each category.

Winner Category Selection. On or about May 19, 2025, nominations in each category will be counted and the winner in each of the 40 categories will be selected based on those votes.

Category winners will be notified via email or phone as soon as possible after they are selected, during the week of May 19, 2025. Category winners will be revealed on air on Evening during the week of June 2, 2025 (Best Northwest Escapes Reveal Week).

Odds of winning a category depend on the number of eligible nominations received.
