SEATTLE — Whenever Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever arrive in a Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) city, it means elevated ticket prices and large crowds to watch the most popular star in women's basketball.
Clark and the Fever face off with the Seattle Storm Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside Climate Pledge Arena.
Those looking for tickets should be prepared to spend big, as the cheapest ticket on StubHub for the game was $88 as of Tuesday morning for a corner of the upper bowl. A floor seat just steps away from courtside will cost $894, while a coveted courtside seat will be over $4,000.
"The Caitlin Clark Effect" extends beyond the ticket prices, as USA Today said leaguewide viewership was down 55% when she was out for five games recently due to a quad injury.
While Clark is dominating the headlines, the Storm has gotten off to a strong start after a tumultuous offseason. Star Jewell Loyd demanded a trade, leading to a three-team blockbuster which sent Loyd to Las Vegas, former University of Washington star Kelsey Plum to Los Angeles and several covered draft picks to Seattle.
At 9-5, the Storm ranks third in the Western Conference behind the Phoenix Mercury and Minnesota Lynx. Gabby Wilson is leading the league in steals per game at 2.8, and Skylar Diggins is in the WNBA's top five in assists per game with 6.1.
Clark has struggled from behind the three-point line of late, making just one of her last 17 3-pointers entering Tuesday night's game.
