Hello! My name’s Christian Balderas, and I’m a reporter at KING 5 in Seattle.

I joined the team in March 2025, trading in California palm trees for Washington evergreens.

Prior to KING 5, I worked as an anchor and reporter at KSBW, covering the California Central Coast counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito. It was there I won two Emmy awards for breaking news reports.

I got my start in the news business in 2019, thanks to a fellowship at the Emma Bowen Foundation. As part of the program, I trained at KCRA in Sacramento, California, contributing to their evening newscasts. I’ve also worked as a freelance business and entertainment reporter covering red carpets, movie screenings and celebrity news.

I am a proud UCLA Bruin, and even prouder Filipino American and member of the LGBTQ+ community.

I’ve hosted pride celebrations in Monterey County, and I’ve collaborated with GLAAD to advocate for LGBTQ+ representation in media. I’m also an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association.

In my free time, you’ll find me solo traveling, taking cycling and pole fitness classes and cuddling with my chunky English Bulldog, Ube.
