SEATTLE — Pier 58 will reopen to the public on July 25, bringing nearly 50,000 square feet of new park space to Seattle’s expanding waterfront.
City officials announced Wednesday that the renovated pier — part of the 20-acre Waterfront Park redevelopment — includes a marine-themed playground, scenic views of Elliott Bay, and amenities designed for families and visitors.
The revamped Pier 58, formerly known as Waterfront Park, is located between Union and Pike streets next to the Seattle Aquarium. Its new features include a 25-foot-tall jellyfish-themed climbing structure, an 18-foot slide, and ample seating and shade. A public restroom opened in March.
“Now, we celebrate its return as yet another incredible piece of our reimagined, expanded Waterfront Park,” Mayor Bruce Harrell said in a statement. “This new space promises a memorable experience for all, whether you call Seattle home or are visiting from afar.”
The city will mark the opening with a free community celebration on Friday, July 25, from 4-8 p.m., following an earlier ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attendees are encouraged to wear marine-themed costumes and meet local mascots.
