SAN FRANCISCO — Need to beat the heat? This Friday, anyone walking into a 7-Eleven can get a free small Slurpee for National Slurpee Day.
This year's celebrations are a little different than years past, as 7-Eleven is also offering customers a tongue tattoo — deemed tongue-too — that's activated by the Slurpee. There's also a limited edition cup to celebrate the company's 98th birthday.
Customers will have three flavors to choose from: Blue Raspberry, described as a "sweet OG;" classic cherry; and limited time MTN DEW Infinite Swirl, described as a refreshing pineapple berry.
7-Eleven has been giving away free Slurpees each year on July 11 since 2002, although the promotion has been pared back over the years. The promotion is also available at Speedway and Stripes convenience stores.
How to get a free Slurpee on July 11
Customers can visit their local 7-Eleven, Speedway or Stripes convenience store Friday, July 11, and ask for their free small Slurpee.
The deal is limited to one per person Friday only and at participating locations while supplies last, according to 7-Eleven.
There's no coupon or app needed in-store. 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members can scan their rewards information on Slurpee Day to get a coupon for another free small Slurpee drink to redeem before July 31. Rewards members can also enter to win free drinks, snacks, Slurpees and more.
How to use 7-Eleven Slurpee tongue tattoo
This year Slurpee Day celebrations include a tattoo activated by drinking a Slurpee. 7-Eleven says it's an easy four steps:
- Get a free (or paid for) Slurpee on Friday, July 11
- Drink said Slurpee
- Place the tongue-too on your tongue and wait 20 seconds
- Peel the paper off and reveal the temporary tattoo on your tongue
The "S" logo on the tattoo is the official Slurpee logo.
